| In July of 2000, my mother decided she was ready for a Caribbean cruise, her first. As the only of her four children available for such an adventure, I accompanied her on a voyage that was wildly foreign and surprising at every turn - I had no idea about the industry of cruise ships nor the loyalty of some of its aficionados.
