Ethnic textiles - Javanese batik details

This marvelous batik was once a sarong - the seam has been opened, but not cut. It is made on very fine cotton and is probably dyed with the natural soga brown, and is from the early 1900's. This design is finely drawn by hand in wax, a tulis batik, signed E V Zuylen. JAV310 $500 |
